Movement Lab Ohio's Lab Rats Competition Team
About:
Our competition teams are designed for those individuals who want to compete at the highest level in the sport of ninja warrior. No experience is necessary, but tryouts are required to determine eligibility. Practices focus on improving individual weaknesses, and includes course runs, conditioning, obstacle technique, and mental training for competitions.
How to join:
We hold tryouts 2-3X per year. Tryouts are typically scheduled at the beginning of each season, with occasional supplemental tryouts mid-season. We do not disclose what tryouts specifically consist of in order to keep things fair for everyone, but all tryouts will test pull-ups, deadhangs, agility, and obstacle skill.
Seasons:
We have 2 seasons for our teams to train in: regular season and off-season. The regular season starts in August and ends in February to coincide with the National Ninja League competition season. The off-season starts in April and end in July. Regular season practices typically focus on courses and perfecting obstacle technique, while the off-season focuses on conditioning and creating a solid strength foundation.
Competitions:
Our team travels to competitions mainly throughout the mid-west, but can travel farther if competitions are available. While there are several ninja leagues in place, we focus on the National Ninja League (NNL). We send a coach to a minimum of 1 comp per month, but often have a coach present at many more. Members of our teams are more than welcome to participate in other leagues in addition to the NNL comps we go to.

What should I wear for ninja?
- You can purchase a team jersey, and any athletic shorts or leggings are perfect for ninja. Athletic shoes with a grippy rubber bottom are best. Foam-bottomed shoes will easily slip on obstacles and should not be used for competitions.
- Lab Rats memberships are separate from our normal memberships. However, having a normal membership gives you a discount on teams based on the type of membership you have (i.e. unlimited gives a higher discount than open gym only).
